When John Bolt started working with Kendrick Homes on a four-week contract basis in January 1992, and then became a full time member of the team in 1994, he never thought his Architectural career with them would span over 23 years!

Having worked on many housing developments during his career with them, he was naturally delighted to finally have the opportunity to design his very own retirement home for him and his wife Jenny.

When buying a new home, homebuyers are able to create a home to suit their own needs and John was no exception.

By utilising his experience he was able to create his dream home which lead to a design that that Jenny and John could look forward to retiring in.

A few weeks ago the couple received the keys to their new property moved into their new and individually designed home in Worcestershire.

John commented, “We are absolutely delighted with our new home, especially as having the opportunity to design it, for an Architect it was the icing on the cake to be able to live in the property after construction too.

“Having lived on the outskirts of Birmingham for many years our new lovely village location that we now live is a completely different lifestyle for us – and we love it.”

During his time at Kendrick Homes, John was involved with many different projects including luxury apartments, barn conversion style homes and large executive detached homes throughout the greater West Mildands.

He has witnessed first hand the technological advancement of computers, which has taken most Architects away from the paper ‘Drawing Board’ and onto a computer – but to this day he still prefers the paper version.

More recently in 2014 John was involved in taking the design concept of Kendrick Homes’ self built 10,000 sq feet property head office at Westhill House on the Hagley Road in Stourbridge to full architectural drawings.

Jenny said, “Our new home is exactly what we have dreamt of for years and we are now able to continue our grand parenting duties with our four grandchildren in the safe environment of our new village life.”
